One Year MBA

The on-campus MBA program at Mississippi State is an accelerated one-year program. The MBA program is designed as a cohort system, meaning that you will take all of your courses with your fellow MBA students as a group. Students grow through experiential programs such as MBA+ professional development workshops and consulting projects for actively operating enterprises. By choosing to add an extra elective, you can direct your MBA toward a specific area of study such as project management, data analytics, or marketing information systems. If you’re interested in another department on campus that offers graduate level courses, you may be eligible to create your own minor.

The MBA program focuses on professional development that includes dinner etiquette, public speaking, and interview best practices to make you more competitive in the job market. An MBA from Mississippi State allows you to carve your own path to leadership.

The MBA program at Mississippi State is an accelerated one year program, which is great because most other schools are two year. So a lot of my friends were able to get in one year and start their jobs a lot sooner. And then for me, I was able to take the more rigorous courses going from undergrad into the Masters, which helped set me up for success going into my Ph. D program, which is where I am now. It's also a collaborative team environment. So the first day you have your team that you'll be working with throughout the course of the entire program. And I think that sets people up well for going into the workforce when they have to do collaborative projects.

With the MBA program, you take your required courses, but if you add one extra elective, you can actually create your own minor or choose one of the pre approved minors. So you can choose a minor in project management, data analytics, marketing information systems, and if there's another department on campus that you're particularly interested and they offer graduate level courses, you can create your own minor. Graduate assistantships are available within the MBA program. They're awarded on a competitive basis. And they kind of help defray tuition costs such as out of state tuition. The MBA department really focuses on professional development, everything from dinner etiquette, in an interview setting, to an eight hour session of just interview skills and different types of interviews you may encounter and how to best prepare yourself to make you more competitive in the job market.
